Dedicated on October 28, 2022, the First Responders Memorial “celebrates the sacrifice of our first responders and honors those our county has lost”, according to Steven Green, Butler AM Rotary President. The memorial is located in Alameda Park.
Commissioner and club member Kevin Boozel conceived the memorial for those who died in the line of duty and formed a committee that includes Boozel, retired Adams Twp. Police Chief Bill Westerman, former Butler Twp. Volunteer Fire District Chief Greg Haughey, and paramedic crew chief Teak Baker of Cranberry Twp. EMS. They asked Butler AM Rotary to manage corporate sponsorships and public donations through its non-profit Butler AM Rotary Charities.
“Here we have a group of people who died in this service to the community,” quoting Haughey. Westerman affirms that “These people need to be recognized. It’s something that needs to be done.”
